tutoring/mentoring...

For the past 19 years, during the school year, our church family has reached out to the community through a free tutoring/mentoring program. It's our means of sharing the love of Christ in a tangible and life changing way.

Volunteers help students one-on-one with homework or basic skills with which they have difficulty. A mentoring relationship forms between the student and the tutor/mentor that greatly benefits both parties.

We work with students from kindergarten up through high school.

Our program is based on Philippians 4:13. The Children learn this Scripture as their Can-Do Promise and are encouraged to apply the Can-Do Formula (as pictured). Character traits are taught throughout the year and woven into reading, math, and writing.

We plan various events throughout the year, such as craft nights when students get to let loose their creative minds through painting and construction. Every Easter we also invite the students and their families to come enjoy an egg hunt, the Easter message, and a sack lunch/picnic.

As we enter our twentieth year of this ministry, we continue to be amazed at the grace of God in our lives and the lives of the people we've been privileged to know.
